Our Cattery

Our Cattery

Our cattery is based in Toronto, Canada. We are a registered Cattery with many clients who became part of our family as they have adopted our kittens. We are building strong connections with our families as we provide them our support in order to give them the best experience and make sure that the kittens continue to grow healthy and happy.

Our name comes from our first female Sunny. When she first came in to our lives we started to train her and noticed that she is very smart and learns quickly, this is why we started to call her Sunny – the Smart Cat. We have recorded lots of videos of her doing all her tricks and posted it to YouTube. This name has stuck with us since then, so we have called our cattery SunnySmartCat!

We are maintaining our cattery small so we can provide each of our cats and kittens the love and care that they deserve!

Background

When Oksana (CEO of SunnySmartCat) was a kid, she and her mom raised Persian Cats. Every time they had kittens, Oksana was training them, creating different cat food recipes with her mom and looking for a loving home for their kittens. Oksana was always surrounded by animals and she would study their language. She was one weird kid who would talk to stray dogs, bring them home, or would befriend them, she would rescue stray kittens from outdoors, would save mice from a cat, and heal a bird. She always had a good connection with any animals. She has experience training Cats, Dogs, Parrots, Guineapigs and if she had any other animals there is no doubt that she would train them to!

After Oksana got married to Artur, they adopted a British Short Hair cat and called her Sunny. Her husband knew how much she loves to work with animals and fully supported her to have a cattery. They raise their cats and kittens together!

Environment

We raise our cats and kittens among us. They are freely running inside the house and have everything that they could need to grow strong and healthy. We DON’T raise our cats in cages and we don’t support other breeders that do. In Summer and warmer times, we allow our cats to walk outdoors under our supervision, never without it as they are domestic cats and not raised to be outdoor cats. Our kittens are well socialized and we raise them to be loving, caring and cuddly.

All of the kittens have different personalities and by spending lots of time with them we tend to spot it right away and share that with their new family to create a bond even before they got rehomed.

Food

Our cats are trained to eat healthy. We feed them with raw – in-home mixed food as well as carefully selected canned food. This makes it easier for you to choose what works better for you. Of course, Raw food is the best choice as it is made from organic, natural human-grade meat and it is more healthy for your cat and their nature as carnivores.

Why British Shorthair?

We have selected this breed because of their strong health, beautiful round faces and gorgeous and soft fur.

“We had done so much research when we were selecting a cat for us. We were reading about their health and what to expect. This breed we found to be very healthy as long as you know how to raise them” – Oksana.

From our own discovery we found that this breed posses a soft and warm heart with incredible intelligence. They love to be around people, don’t love to be alone or away, and are always waiting for you to come back home. They will always be there for you and will not leave you in happy or sad moments, which makes them a great companion for you and your family.

Cat Training

We train our cats in order to be the best part of your family. We spend lots of time with our Cats and Kittens, providing them with love, human interaction and affection. We teach our Kittens every day how to be gentle, how to scratch posts, not furniture, how to eat and drink, use cat litter and not your plants or blankets. We train them with grooming, nail trimming, health inspection and general care. We teach them house rules and “No” means “No”. All this we do for you and your family and for the kittens so you may have the best experience with your new family member.

We also teach our families how to take care of the kittens and how to continue healthy training after you take them home!
